Guestbook and Gite Diary for our Brittany holiday home

Leaves from our Brittany Holiday Gite guestbook

It would be immodest of us to sing the praises of Les Vallees - so we've let our guests do it for us.

Below are just a selection of the many many quotes in our Gite guestbook and the many "thank-you" emails we've received - of course you're more than welcome to read (and contribute to) the Gite guestbook yourself on your own holiday!

Foote family (Poole, Dorset), October 2007
The Gite was very comfortable for us as a family of 4, the girls made full use of the games and toys, especially those out in the barn. It had lots of considerations for kids - stair gates, bed-guard, plastic cups, plates, etc. Excellent! It has all been very well thought out.
Tim, Monica and 2-year old Eve, September 2007
We have had a wonderful time here, and that's in no small part due to the home comforts we have found at the Gite.
We were delighted that this place looks as good in the flesh as on the website!
Arnold Family (Cambridgeshire), August 2007
Josselin is lovely. We went up the clock tower (free) and ate galette's (tartiflette - highly recommended).
Poul Fetan 16th Century village is excellent we had a wonderful lunch in the tavern and bought bread baked in the traditional boulangerie.
We have loved it here and don't want to go home!
Gordon & Sue (West Chinnock, Somerset), July 2007
We have had a wonderfully relaxing holiday, the first without the kids for 20 years!
It's a lovely rural area and we have so enjoyed the birds - the swallows, flycatchers, tree creeper and baby robins and sparrows. On our last day we were fascinated to see 2 green fledgling woodpeckers with a parent - what a treat!
Kemp Family (Queensland, Australia), June 2007
Cancale is a pleasant seaside town and it's well worth seeing the "Rochers Sculptés" just before entering the town; they're granite rocks carved and sculptured by hand in the 1800's with many figures and faces - cost €2.50
Rob & Dori (Porlock, Somerset), May 2007
We have loved the cosy comfy Gite, the surrounding countryside, the birds, trees, wild flowers, etc. The people are so friendly and kind, ALL of them!
La Cheze with it's excellent museum of local industry, beautifully set out with very good informative notices. We had a great time at the local vintage tractor rally, over 100 exhibits and then saw 3 ladies in the traditional Breton dress with the tall lace head dress in the local pub! Yummy Gallettes galore and crepes too!
Balinski family (Reading, Berkshire), Easter 2007
The Gite was even bigger and prettier than the pictures and (sadly) the girls loved the Sega! The delightful 4-poster was a surprise in the master bedroom - so pretty.
Dinan was perfect - don't miss it - we spent the whole day going round the beautiful medieval town. We'd definitely recommend Josselin, the girls enjoyed watching lizards on the castle ramparts and climbing the church clock tower.
Nicola & Andrew (Daventry, Northants), March 2007
The Breton countryside is rural & peaceful and everything we hoped for. We visited Josselin (beautiful), Loudeac (great shops), Pontivy (lovely town with many festivals during the year) and Lac du Guerdelan (great place to walk and do watersports).
This house is a great central base for most of Brittany. Facilities excellent here - very comfortable and warm.
McCann family (Taunton, Somerset), March 2007
We had a great crossing and the directions here were absolutely 'spot on'. On arriving on Monday we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accommodation - your photo's on the website do not do the property justice.
Waterman family (Orpington, Kent), February 2007
We visited Rennes, Vannes, La Cheze and all had a lovely, relaxed holiday. I would love to return to enjoy the peace and quiet.
Mak family (Den Haag, Holland), Christmas 2006
We have enjoyed the landscape, peace of the countryside and the layout and facilities of the house. The walk to La Cheze and lunch at Auberge du Lie was an excellent find.
Susie & Paul (Cheddar, Somerset), October 2006
We spent a lot of our time just enjoying the Gite where we read, painted, knitted, lounged, scared ourselves with some of your videos and generally enjoyed ourselves. Thank you so much, Geoff and Liz for this wonderful opportunity to relax.
Watson family (Buntingford, Hertfordshire), August 2006
Our second visit to the Gite ... we loved the patio and sun loungers, and the bikes were a great addition too. Another wonderful holiday. Happy to recommend.
Dent family (Cardiff), August 2006
It was so nice to arrive at such a lovely, comfy, welcoming Gite which really does have everything you could possibly want.
Pont Scorff Zoo is a must if you have children; it's only about an hour's journey away so is quite manageable. Very good zoo and plenty of restaurants or take a picnic. Lots to see and do - highly recommended, do visit!
Rochefort en Terre was a beautiful place to visit, and in fact, we went twice. Rochefort is a small cobbled street town with some lovely little shops, castle and beautiful restaurants that are very children friendly.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to any of our friends planning to visit Brittany.
Les Hebblethwaites (Richmond, Surrey), July 2006
Ace place - great fun - thoroughly recommended - perfectly equipped and fab weather too!
Donohoe's, May 2006
Well where do I start, what a lovely place; so peaceful and relaxing. The Gite is very comfortable and well equipped for a good stay. The people are very friendly around here and La Chèze is a nice place with a very nice pub and a nice patisserie. We would love to return for another stay - perhaps later in the year?
Kerr Family (Ealing, London), April 2006
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and yes inevitably lost track of what day of the week it was!
Every toy found in the barn were put through their paces and our children (aged 5, 4 and 14 months) found their own fun and entertainment all around - lots of walks, mucking around on the climbing frame, Easter Egg hunts, and generally exploring - simple pleasures.
Thank you to Geoff and Liz for the efforts you made to make our holiday comfortable and very enjoyable.
Claire and Gail (Glasgow), March 2006
First thing we heard was a woodpecker - it's like "Springwatch". Auray - a postcard! We had lovely lunch on quayside in Le Repas Franklin (where Benjamin Franklin stayed in 1776 en-route to Vannes).
Thanks Geoffrey and Liz, without the comfort, peace, and tranquillity here, who knows how up-tight we'd have been whilst house-hunting in the area.
Richard and Gemma (London), Christmas 2005
It's been so very relaxing here in the house and surrounding area so thank you to the Coan's for making it a very special Christmas for the two of us. The Gite really was perfect, everything we wanted, and more. We loved it here mid-winter - so cosy, peaceful and equipped with all mod cons for our stay. We only tried the open fire once as I was too lazy to run in and out for wood - it was however a very welcome addition to our stay. Hopefully the snow will have melted by morning and we'll be on our way home, though not without a few regrets at leaving this perfect place to relax.
McKenzie family (Kent), September 2005
A great family friendly Gite in a lovely rural setting which isn't too "British". Ideal for a three year old with far too much energy! Parking up the car this evening we were startled by a huge owl in the barn which we've been hearing hooting every evening. On a clear night, just look up, you can see so many stars - it's so dark!
Reeves sisters (Hastings Sussex), September 2005
Sat out on the loungers in the dark with bats swooping by and listening to the owls - it was really warm and you could see all the stars. The Gite was a great stop off and is well positioned half way between the coasts. We love being in the middle of nowhere and explored all the lanes and villages. It's a good sized family home and we enjoyed peace and quiet and fresh air we needed. Thanks!
Watson family (Hertfordshire), August 2005
We were very impressed with Gite on first impression. Beautiful location - very peaceful, pool proved a great hit with our children (aged 10 and 11). Lots of wildlife - a Red Squirrel regularly visits early in the morning and the second batch of Swallow babies took their first flight on 12th August and haven't looked back - entertaining us with their aerobatic displays every morning and evening. We spotted a couple of buzzards over the wooded area a few times. Village of La Chèze very pretty and we took a lovely walk around the lake.
Griffin family (Leicestershire), July 2005
To say this has been pleasant is an under-statement. We have really enjoyed our stay here.
Pleneuf Val Andre - fab beach, two/three miles long and a lovely harbour with loads of eating places able to tolerate buggies and children.
La Chèze - all we can say is thank-you for Le Flore, without which we would have been unable to eat out so easily. Nice food in pleasant surroundings and somewhere you are definitely able to take the kids.
Harriett (Ware, Hertfordshire), July 2005
It has been a lovely stay. It has been so peaceful here in les Vallées, hearing the many types of birdsong and less traffic has been excellent - you totally lose track of time and the day here. The Gite is pretty, comfortable and clean. The house and garden have a lovely aspect, gorgeous on a sunny day.
Weaver family (Evesham Worcestershire), June 2005
Thanks to Sky TV we've been able to keep up with Bill and Kate on 'Springwatch', but we have our own in Brittany with Sparrows nesting in the eaves over the outside floodlight, Starlings under the gutter over the outside dining table, and best of all, Swallows in the passageway by the oil tank. I can see one sitting on its nest from where I am sitting.
Gregg, Karin and family (Reading), May half-term 2005
Mont St Michel - wonderful abbey to explore, lots of winding streets through the village - a must to see.
Josselin - a wonderful old world village which needs at least two visits. One during the week to sightsee the village, château, shops, etc; and a second for the lovely experience of Saturday morning's street market. There are lots of places to eat or you can picnic along the river.
It's a lovely family home, very comfortable and peaceful environment and friendly people all around.
Thanks for the use of the toys and games, especially the 'Talking Puzzle' which kept us busy for hours!
Fenwick family (Hertford), May 2005
Our 5 year old son loved the garden and play equipment - thanks a lot.
